Hi there! Welcome.

Formed millions of years ago when two of the Earth's plates collided, the Appalachian Mountains are the oldest mountains in the world. The Southern portion of the Appalachian Mountains offers some of the most spectacular sights found anywhere. The centerpiece of this area is the Great Smoky Mountains National Park, which is by far, the most visited national park in North America.

Tourist destinations just outside the park include Maggie Valley, Gatlinburg, Pigeon Forge, Sevierville and the Cherokee Indian Reservation. Reaching slightly further outside the National Park are two additional destinations, Alpine Helen, Georgia and The High Country, which is comprised of Boone, Blowing Rock and Banner Elk, North Carolina. Activities in these areas include everything from hiking and rafting to shopping and snow skiing.
